HANDSOME DEVIL PUPPETS
I have referenced this artist before because I really like her work, its very dark and gothic and often features likeness' of cult TV and film characters and musicians.
I reference her work now as I think it would be cool to try and make a puppet myself to use in the videos I'm planning to make. Han actually does a annual tour of live performances with her puppets, she is very skilled at both making them moveable and the craft of performing with them and she is also a musician. Another example of a multi disciplined person creating a whole world/ performative fantasy art.
My puppet will be a bit more basic and I'm thinking Ill use stop motion (Inspired by Blood tea and red string by Christiane Cegavske) as a way to animate my character.
I'm also looking at the materials she uses to make her work- polymer clay, air dry clay and various pre owned, vintage fabrics, re purposed. All accessible materials suitable for domestic use.
I have a big collection of fabrics and bits and bobs, as well as natural found objects that I can utilise
for this project...in keeping with the folk theme.
I'm revisiting her work from a technical approach to get ideas on how to make my own action figure/ puppet.
Below are some screen shots from her website and social media as well as a video of one of her pieces.
